Hauz Khas Village in Delhi is a Jat village, you'd see if you scratched the surface. The old landowners sold off the place and went back to tending their livestock.

Some of the families at Hauz Khas Village still live behind the parking lot, divided by walls. The signs of an unnatural transition to a pop culture neighbourhood is all around the place, from bad plumbing to dangling overhead wires to an old home that suddenly appears between two designer stores. A familiar story in this city.
