Jawaharlal Nehru University: In the dead of the night

Morning came at midnight on Jawaharlal Nehru University campus. Everyone looked alive, fuelled by snacks from Ganga dhaba, cigarettes and Coca-Cola. Because it was the presidential debate night. Candidates of student parties got a chance to abuse one another on stage. They also recycled lines borrowed from their parent parties – Congress, BJP, Left groups. The election to the students’ union posts are on September 11, the day peace died in the modern world.

The show went on well past midnight.
