Somewhere in this area was where an unknown man stood alone in front of tanks during the Chinese students' protest in Tiananmen Square in 1989.  

It's a 'fun' place today. Nobody talks about what had actually happened here anymore. The guides jump forth into the glorious history of rulers, only to ask in the end, "dollar please."

Beijing National Stadium or the Bird's Nest was a highlight of the 2008 Olympics and Paralympics.

Housing is a serious problem in Beijing, not due to lack of space but there are just too many people around.

They also have artificial sky.

Macau, one of the two special administrative regions of China, is reportedly dependent on gambling and tourism. It has some nice landscape though, a good break from mainland China cities.
